• Installing "free" software such as music sharing/downloading software (example:  Kazaa),
  free screen savers,
  free programs that enhance your IM sessions like "smilies,"
  free games, etc.
  Not all free software contains spyware.  The key is to only install programs from reputable vendors.
• Installing rogue anti-spyware programs that appear to remove spyware, but in fact, actually do the opposite.
• By opening email attachments that are infected.
• Clicking on pop-up ads while browsing websites.
• Just by browsing a website, you can receive spyware, parasites, trojans, etc.

HISTORY
We formally registered DirectComputerCare.com in December of 2001.  The original design was crafted by Greg Snyder (thanks Greg!) and has been with us since that first day.

Recently we have been moving to a consistent "blue" theme for all our materials, website, advertisements, etc.  The website was redone in blue and at the same time we thought it would also be a good time to do a website face lift for a change of pace as well.

The site design took three days with the text added in about three or four.  We had the original design idea sometime ago, so it was just a matter of setting the time aside and making it happen.
